Wolverine, Tiger wrestlers tangle in dual

Tight tuneup for conference tourney

It was a Battle Royale between the Wood River High School and Jerome wrestling teams Tuesday, at Tigerville.

Close, tense and back-and-forth, the two Great Basin Conference squads went after each other before Jerome emerged with a 45-33 dual meet victory over Wood River (15-7 in duals).

Wood River won seven of the 15 weight classes (2 forfeits, 1 pin, 1 technical fall, 1 4-point decision, 2 decisions). Host Jerome captured eight classes (3 forfeits, 4 pins, 1 decision).

Junior Tim Boyle ended the evening with a first-period pin at 113 pounds. Junior Storm Anderson added a technical fall at 170, senior Jeremiah Linderman a 10-0 win at 220, junior Thomas Heiden an 8-6 decision at 182 and senior Andrew Beck a 9-7 decision at 126 pounds.
