Alpine racers visit Park City, Kelly Canyon

Nearly 60 SVSEF kids travel

Young Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation alpine racers climbed the podium over Super Bowl weekend during USSA Intermountain Division junior events on the slopes of Park City, Utah and Kelly Canyon in eastern Idaho.

Boys' podium winners at the David Wright Memorial giant slaloms on Park City's CB's run included Jay Fitzgerald (winning J3 twice, 11th and 12th overall) along with J2s Garrett Lodge and Tanner Josey. Samantha Busby was second J3 and third overall Sunday.

At Kelly Canyon's Pinto Buffalo run for the 8-12 year-old group, Sun Valley kids dominated the Wes Deist Memorial.

Sage Rheinschild captured both girls' GS races. Earning podium spots were Katelyn Rathfon, Madison Ferris and Jake Blackburn. Also winning their classes were J5s Lily Fitzgerald and Wyatt Minor.

Next: The Monroe Cup slaloms and Lonnie Basolo Memorial GS races Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 11-12 on Baldy.
