Hockey road trip takes gals to Jackson

For Debra Doom tourney

Ketchum's Five Star Kitchen Design women's ice hockey team enjoyed the best results last weekend as three of the Wood River Valley's finest women's teams took a road trip to Snow King Ice Arena in Jackson, Wyo.

There, Five Star along with the Sun Valley Sunsets (0-4 in the "A" bracket) and Sun Valley Twisters (0-3 "B") competed in the Debra Doom tournament won Sunday, Jan. 29 by the host Jackson Teton Passers 5-1 over Bozeman (Mont.) Weasels.

Five Star, playing in the "B" division, won two of its three games—7-1 over the Bozeman "B" Weasels and 4-3 over the Missoula (Mont.) Ice Hounds. Five Star dropped a 5-1 decision to the Boise Wildfire and ended up finishing fourth behind the Park City (Utah) Predators, Boise and Breckenridge (Colo.)

Goalie Denae Commons of Five Star had 51 saves in three games, making 19 of them in the closely contested 4-3 game with Missoula Saturday. The Ketchum women put that one away with a four-goal second period on scores by Erin Griffith, Jody Zarkos, Lisa Wood and Sara Schroeder.

In Five Star's 7-1 victory over Bozeman, Schroeder and Tristan Ellison Gralenski each scored twice, with Zarkos and Georgia Hutchinson picking up a pair of assists apiece. Here are the team's scoring totals:

Sara Schroeder 3 goals/1 assist, Erin Griffith 3/0, Georgia Hutchinson 1/3, Tristan Ellison Gralenski 2/1, Jody Zarkos 1/2, Lisa Wood 1/2, Jini Griffith 0/2, Erika Greenberg 0/1, Joan Reynolds 1/0, Nancy Parsons-Brown 0/1 and Mary Tess O'Sullivan 0/1. Also skating was Kris Josey.
