Town Series gets into gates on Cozy

Rixon has Wednesday’s best run

Carl Rixon Jr. of Tekasoreasses (27.38 seconds) and Miles Fink-Debray (27.55) of Park Rats clocked the fastest single-run times of Wednesday's first week of the 21st annual Sun Valley Town Series of team races on Baldy's Cozy ski run.

Top 15 racers behind Rixon and Fink-Debray were:

3—Nate Schwing 27.80. 4—Robin Sarchett 28.09. 5—Hunter Storey 28.50. 6—Tyler Chandler 28.52. 7—John Campbell 28.67. 8—Matt Murphy 28.75. 9—Erika Hogan 29.32. 10—Cam Fraser 29.35. 11—Jan Hegewald 29.74. 12—Wes Powell 29.85. 13—Brett Jacobson 30.15. 14—Alan Rickers 30.27. John Summers 30.64.

The "rabbit" right in the middle of the pack was Kent Lyons of Glow Pokes, 36.23.

There were 131 racers in the dual modified giant slalom race—pretty much all of the 134 racers on the 34 four-member teams this season. And team names are colorful as always—like Occupy Baldy, Back of the Bus, Team Menopause, Hors to Culture and Down a Slope Without a Paddle.

Next event is Wednesday, Feb. 1 with the post-race party at Mahoney's in Bellevue.
