Hailey matmen pin Buhl, Burley

Improve to 14-5 in duals

It was a banner night for the Wood River High School wrestlers Tuesday at Burley.

The Wolverines used four pins, one decision and one forfeit to handle Buhl 51-24. The Hailey matmen added three pins, three decisions and five forfeits beating Burley 57-18.

Wood River is now 14-5 in dual meets so far this season.

Coach Shawn Huntington of Wood River said, "We probably had our best performance of the year. Everyone came out focused and determined and we only dropped three matches the entire evening.

"We also wrestled five exhibition matches and recorded five pins in those matches."

Senior 126-pounder Andrew Beck had two pins at Burley Tuesday. So did sophomore Kyle Clark at 138 pounds. Junior Thomas Heiden chipped in with a pin and decision at 182. Soph Cooper Bailey won two 120-pound decisions, 4-3 and 7-2.

Other pins came from Tommy Bailey at 145 and Chris Carnes at 285. Senior Zach Brown earned a decision win. The five exhibition match pins were by Kaleb Guisasola, Tim Boyle, Jake Halopoff, Storm Anderson and Chris Carnes.

Wood River won't host its final scheduled home meet on Tuesday, Jan. 31 because of the Wolverine girls' basketball tournament home game that will be staged on the Hailey hardwoods that evening. Therefore, there will be no "Senior Night" for the matmen, said Huntington.

Complete match results from Burley can be found on today's Web site.
