A 20-year-old Hailey man has been charged with burglary, a felony, for allegedly stealing bottles of wine and alcoholic iced tea sometime Saturday night from Rasberrys Restaurant & Catering in Hailey.

Paul Silvas Armendarez Jr. was formally charged with the crime Monday in Blaine County Magistrate Court. He was also charged with the misdemeanor crime of unlawful possession of alcohol by a person under 21.

Judge R. Ted Israel appointed Ketchum attorney Dan Dolan as public defender and scheduled a preliminary hearing for Feb. 1.

Armendarez remained incarcerated Tuesday in the Blaine County jail on $10,000 bond.

According to a Hailey police report, Armendarez lives in a house that connects to the restaurant on Main Street, and the alcohol was stolen from a garage where it was stored.

Hailey Patrolman Matthew Ferronato alleged in a probable-cause affidavit that Armendarez took the alcohol for a party he was attending that night at the Balmoral apartment complex in southeast Hailey.

The theft was discovered Sunday morning and reported to police.

Ferronato wrote in his report that the business owner estimated the amount of alcohol stolen at $600. Some of the missing alcohol, Ferronato wrote, was found in a car owned by Armendarez that was parked near the restaurant Sunday morning.
