Who is your Woman of the Year?

Nominations now open

By JENNIFER TUOHY
Express Staff Writer

Carla Scanlon was voted Woman of the Year in 2011.

There are women in all our lives; some feature small, some loom larger than life, and many we love with all our hearts. But there are some women who are beloved of an entire community, be it for their selflessness, their charm, their joie de vivre or their passion. It's these women whom the Idaho Mountain Express would like to know about.

Today sees the opening of nominations for the newspaper's third annual Woman of the Year award. The award recognizes one female Wood River Valley resident who has made the biggest difference to the valley over the past year.

The criteria are simple: The woman of the year is someone who has made the area a better place through her actions, contributions and positive outlook on life.

Go to www.mtexpress.com/womanoftheyear and submit your nomination for the valley woman who you think best deserves this accolade.

Nominations must be submitted using the online form, and the deadline is Sunday, Feb. 5, at 5 p.m. The five women with the most nominations will then be put forward for a public vote to select the Woman of the Year.

The Woman of the Year will be featured on the cover of the Idaho Mountain Express' Valley Woman special section, to be published on Wednesday, March 21.
