Thank you, delivery drivers

It's Christmas eve, 7:45 p.m. and as I am sitting in my hot tub enjoying the stars and a glass of red, and most of us are relaxing at home or with family and friends, I recognize that oh-so-familiar sound.

Coming up the street for probably the third time that day is the UPS truck, its driver working late into the night delivering all of our holiday gifts and cards.

This was an event that was playing out that night all over the valley right up to Christmas as well as in the weeks leading up to the holidays.

It dawned on me that I wanted to publicly thank all the people who make our holiday deliveries happen. The amount of mail and packages that are delivered during this time is staggering and these folks do the job with remarkable efficiency, reliability, courtesy and professionalism.

So, to all the UPS, FedEx and United States Postal Service workers, I personally want to thank you for all of your hard work and dedication. My nephews' Christmas morning wouldn't be the same without you. Thank you.
