Banked slalom is a big hit on Baldy

Baldy's old halfpipe was put to good use Sunday, as Sun Valley Company and Smith Sport Optics staged the first annual Baldy Banked Slalom.

The event attracted a big field of 96 snowboarders, 88 who posted single-run finishes.

Class champions were Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation alum Spencer Cordovano for the men, Desiree Melacon for the women and Clyde Montgomery for juniors.

Winners earned the three spots to the Mt. Baker Legendary Banked Slalom (world's oldest snowboard event).
