School board meets Tuesday

Agenda includes presentation on curricula transition

The Blaine County School District board of trustees will hear about future state achievement test requirements at its next monthly meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 17.

The meeting agenda includes a presentation by Director of Curriculum Patricia McLean regarding how the district is transitioning from current curricula to meet common core state standards that will be adopted in 2014 for designing new student achievement tests.

Also on the agenda are a report from Board Chair Steve Guthrie on Gov. Butch Otter's recent visit to Sun Valley for a Capital for a Day event, a report from district Superintendent Lonnie Barber on new state technology recommendations and a presentation from the Wood River High School Architectural/Mechanical Design Academy on a house design.

As usual, the meeting is scheduled to begin a 6 p.m. at the district office at 118 W. Bullion St., Hailey.

The school board has also scheduled a workshop at the district office for noon on Thursday, Jan. 26, to discuss foreign language studies.
