No One Is Listening

By CHRIS MILLSPAUGH

The worst, I mean the worst, television commercial is still running on every channel on cable television. You know the one—the 39 New American. Come on. The one that the overly dramatic announcer says, "He's made a lot of wild claims before, but you see, he's always been right." That one. They open with the claim that they're going to reveal one of the most shocking predictions that will occur in 2011.

Hello, it's 2012. Apparently, it didn't come true—whatever it was. I've heard of only one person who has ever gone to the website to view the video. The message was to buy gold. Wonderful, who's got any money to buy gold? The only people who can afford that are wealthy people. What are we supposed to do—rip out our fillings?

The guy responsible for this glut of advertising probably paid for it in gold and, it's still going on. It's still playing, folks, still playing. Shouldn't someone tell him that it is outdated now? Surely the cable company won't. They're making money every time it airs.

So, if you don't already, please change the channel every time this idiotic message comes forth on your TV screen. It's our only defense. Soon, this moron will realize that no one is watching and take it off.

Now, if this tactic works, perhaps we should adopt it for this political season. If no one listens to the news pundits, the horrific debates, the name-calling, the spins, the slander, we'll have to make up our own minds. depending on the facts and our preference for our candidate. What a concept—the people choose who they want to govern without the help of the media and politicians with their own agenda. Wow, we might just get it right.

Nice talking to you.
