Hailey mayors

Outgoing Hailey Mayor Rick Davis, left, passes the gavel to incoming Mayor Fritz Haemmerle at a City Council meeting Monday. Haemmerle thanked Davis for his service to the city and promptly went to work attending to city affairs, beginning with an amendment to a 1908 ordinance, originally written by hand, that set the days of the week for City Council meetings in the “village of Hailey.” Changes to the ordinance were made to allow the council to meet on the first and third Mondays of each month in order to more readily address actions taken at meetings of the Friedman Memorial Airport board on the first Tuesday of each month. “Hailey will play an important and critical role in all county decisions,” Haemmerle said.
