A Boise man has been charged with misdemeanor battery for allegedly knocking a Ketchum man unconscious in a New Year's Eve brawl in front of Whiskey Jacques' Restaurant and Nightclub in downtown Ketchum.

In a news release issued Tuesday, Ketchum Police Chief Steve Harkins identified the alleged assailant as 29-year-old Jordan D. Arredondo. Harkins reported that Arredondo was not arrested but was instead issued a misdemeanor citation.

Harkins identified the alleged victim as 29-year-old Chris Callahan, who the police chief reported as "motionless on the ground" when police arrived.

Police were called to a "fight in progress" in front of Whiskey Jacques' at 12:38 a.m. Sunday.

According to Harkins' report: "Arredondo allegedly hit Callahan, causing him to lose consciousness. Callahan was not transported for his injuries. Police believe there were approximately four people involved in this altercation and do not know the cause of it."
