Youth hockey teams play in eastern Idaho

Squirts, Peewees


Sun Valley Youth Hockey Peewee (ages 11-12) and Squirt (9-10) teams traveled to eastern Idaho last weekend and enjoyed much success on the rinks.

At Salmon, the Peewees went 3-1 featuring wins over the host Rapids, Bozeman (Mont.) and Idaho Falls along with a loss to McCall. Goalie James Everitt won all three of his games and stopped the final Idaho Falls shot in a shootout win that closed the weekend.

Sam Ballard scored the game winner in the shootout victory.

Other weekend scorers at Salmon were Ike Buxton (3 goals), Alec Broman (3), Chris Nordsieck (3), Charlie Stumph (2), Tiernan Naghsh (2), Darius Pete (4), Ziggy Slanetz and George Prekeges. Passing for assists were Henry Raff, Anik Zarkos and Flynn Stewart.

The Squirts went 3-1 at Idaho Falls including 2-1, 4-2 and 6-0 wins over Boise, Idaho Falls Blue and Idaho Falls Red. Sun Valley fell to Pinedale (Wyo.) 4-1. Goalies were Andrew Nelson (36 saves in 3 games) and Evi Johnson (8).

Sun Valley's Squirts had 10 different goal scorers. Totals were: D.J. Gralenski 1 goal/2 assists; Seamus O'Connell 2/2; Teagan McAvoy 2/1; Fletcher Stumph 2/0; Sam Laski 1/2; Huck Sprong 1/1; Alex Daves 1/0; Connor Manning 1/0; Owen Miller 1/0; Morgan Benson 1/0; and Evi Johnson 0/1.
