Community School holds first orienteering meet

Ranging from elementary school beginners to athletes training for the Olympics, almost 40 participants braved six inches of snow at Adam's Gulch on Saturday, November 12, to participate in Community School's first orienteering meet.

Orienteering is a sport where competitors race to find designated points on a map by using a map and compass. Competitors win by locating the most designated points in the shortest amount of time.

In the men/mixed team division, Community School teacher, Hannes Thum, took first place with 105 points, mixed team "Dominate" (Collin Rodgers and Nicole DeYong) took second place with 95 points, and Chris Mallory took third place with 95 points (but had a slower time). In the women's division, the "Pouncing Panthers" (Sloan Storey, Morgan Atkinson, and Margaret Pope) took first plce.

A great thank you goes out to their sponsors, Backwoods, Community School and PK's for the great event.
