School board to hear about drugs

The Blaine County School District board of trustees has scheduled a special meeting for today, Nov. 18, to hear about student alcohol and drug use.

The public is invited to attend. The meeting starts at noon at the district office at 118 West Bullion St. in Hailey.

The meeting will include a presentation from the Blaine County Community Drug Coalition, which will present data on drug and alcohol use in Blaine County.

The meeting is scheduled to last until 1:30 p.m., when it will be followed by an executive session closed to the public. The purpose of the executive session is not stated in the meeting agenda.

Public invited to 'parent math night'

Parents and the general public can learn more about the Blaine County School District's new math program at "Parent Math Night" scheduled for Monday, Nov. 21.

The event is scheduled from 6:30-8 p.m. in rooms 301-302 at the Community Campus on Fox Acres Road in Hailey.

Idaho Mathematical Thinking Initiative staff, including Jonathon Brendefur, will discuss the new conceptual math being taught now in Blaine County schools and how it relates to a statewide initiative.
