‘From the Inside Out’

Scott film to benefit local bike effort

There's no better way to preserve your voice and message in storytelling than to write, design, direct, act and edit yourself, and that's just what was done in the making of the "From the Inside Out."

The film will be shown Saturday, Nov. 12, at 7:30 p.m. at Hailey's Liberty Theatre.

The daredevil stars shot the film in and around British Columbia over the past three years.

"The story follows a group of three young mountain bikers as they begin to turn their passion for mountain biking into a career and a lifestyle," said Adrian Montgomery, marketing and public relations director for Ketchum's Scott sports' bike division. "It's full of bike action all shot in scenic British Columbia, with some of the biggest names in the sport. There is even a section of one of the riders jumping a moving train."

The feature-length film came from a series of webisode productions that proved there was a fan base for the characters. It began the process of melding into a film last year with Scott's support.

"This is a first in action sports filmmaking in that all the sets were built by the crew and all the film was shot and edited by the riders and they also are featured riding in the movie," Montgomery said. "When they came to us with the idea of a feature film, we were totally supportive of it and invested in the project."

Scott is also a backer of the Wood River Bike Coalition, a program with the Blaine County Recreation District that maintains area trails and programs. Proceeds from the film will go to the coalition.

"The riders are trail builders themselves and have expressed their appreciation for our own local efforts," Montgomery said.

Powerhouse restaurant in Hailey is hosting a cocktail hour at 6 p.m. at the Liberty Theatre.

Tickets can be bought at the door and are $10 for adults and $5 for kids 12 and under.

"Anybody who enjoys mountain biking should see this film," Montgomery said.
