WRHS heads cross country awards

WRHS volleyball team gives banquet awards


Seniors Ben Stout and Corrine Smith led the way for the 2011 Wood River High School cross-country team. Stout and Smith were named to the District IV All-State 4A Team.

Stout and Smith also headlined the IHSAA 4A state meet where they finished eighth and 18th, respectively.

Stout finished with a time of 16:47.07 and Smith finished with 20:35.59

Along with Wood River's top runners, the Community School also had two runners make top honors.

Senior Gray Reidinger and junior Maranda Stopol were named to the District IV All-State 1A/2A Team.

Reidinger ran 18:14.42 in the state meet and finished 19th, and Stopol posted a 21:24.15 time for 15th place.

The season might be over for the 2011 Wood River High School volleyball team, but the post-season awards remain.

Wood River ended the season with a 14-21 record and fell in the six-team Great Basin Conference 4A Tournament, but not before upsetting No. 4 Minico in an epic battle.

Wood River went on to finish fourth in the tournament.

The Wolverines held their annual end of the season banquet on November 3rd. Here are the awards:

Mercedez Powell

Captains Awards

Lily Richards, Kori Paradis

Most Improved

Hayley Cutler

Coaches Award

Sadie Dawson, Karola Huaire

Most Inspirational

Lily Richards

Rounding out the team awards is also the Great Basin Conference awards. Lily Richards and Mercedez Powell both were named to the Second Team All-Great Basin Conference.

Kori Paradis was the only Honorable Mention.
