Bellevue council members deserve re-election

The Bellevue City Council is being slammed by rumors, innuendoes, lies and negative talk from past council members and mayor. Don't believe it. Get the facts! Call a council or staff member, and read the minutes. They are all public record.

Council minutes indicate that Tammy Eaton and Shawn Mahoney were absent from council meetings 30 to 35 percent of the time. They were also members of the council who voted to raise your water/sewer rates for the next 20 years. Does this show their commitment to serve you?

The present council is the most progressive, dedicated and professional team I have ever served with. All meetings start on time, followed by pledge of allegiance and roll call with all members present and each being familiar with items on the agenda. They volunteer for extra duties and have paid out-of-pocket expenses for needed things in and around the City Hall.

Dramatic changes were necessary because of Bellevue's financial straits. All staff had been reduced to 32 work hours per week, saving the city from bankruptcy. No. 1 issue was to peruse all contracts and positions, determining where spending was wasteful. Eliminating the city administrator's job and opening bids on all contracts saved the city more than $100,000. This savings is being used for streets, grounds and the Fire Department.

The present council is transparent, with financial accountability to the community. Regular council and public meetings are posted and advertised for your participation. There are no agendas or hidden meetings taking place at the local bar as in days gone by. You have the choice to be as active as you choose. You have been heard, and we continue to represent your voice.
