A little swing, a little Dixie

Trombone player Howard Miyata, of the High Sierra Jazz Band from Three Rivers, Calif., top, takes command of the stage Sunday morning in the Continental Room of the Sun Valley Inn. Sunday's performances were the last of the 22nd annual Sun Valley Jazz Jamboree, which brings big-name jazz acts from across the nation to Sun Valley and Ketchum for five days every October. Violinist Tom Rigney, above, leader of the San Francisco band Tom Rigney & Flambeau, always gets the crowd dancing. The Reynolds Brothers, below, livened up the scene at Sun Valley Resort with their brand of old-fashioned washboard jazz. Cedric Mayfield, bottom, dazzled crowds with his clarinet work for the U.S. Coast Guard Dixieland Jazz Band.
