Candidates meet for pizza, politics tonight

Bellevue candidates on tap Thursday

By REBECCA MEANY

Ketchum City Council candidates will meet tonight to present their ideas on the city's future and why they should play a part in it.

In the first of a series of Pizza and Politics forums sponsored by the Idaho Mountain Express, tonight's event brings together Ketchum council hopefuls. All 12 candidates have been invited to attend the event, which will last about two hours.

Candidates are challengers Chip Bailey, Mickey Garcia, Bob Kesting, Bill Marshall, Neil Morrow, Phyllis Shafran, Jim Slanetz and Bill White, and incumbents Baird Gourlay, Larry Helzel, Curtis Kemp, Nina Jonas and Mayor Randy Hall.

The council election will apply only if a vote for a council-manager form of government wins.

Candidates will make an introductory speech, then take questions from reporters and the public. Candidates also will be able to ask one question of their fellow panelists.

The public is invited to bring their questions. The Express will provide the pizza.

The other scheduled forums are:

Bellevue Pizza and Politics (City Council)—Thursday, Oct. 20, at 6:30 p.m. in the Bellevue

Elementary School Library.

Hailey Pizza and Politics (City Council and mayor)—Wednesday, Oct. 26, at 6:30 p.m. in the Old County Courthouse in Hailey.

Sun Valley Pizza and Politics (City Council and mayor)—Thursday, Oct. 27, at 6:30 p.m. in Carol's Dollar Mountain Lodge, in Sun Valley.
