Idaho State Police reported Monday evening that a 21-year-old Boise man was killed in a one-vehicle accident earlier that day near RedfishLake south of Stanley.

A news release from ISP Region 6 in Idaho Falls identified the victim as Neely Butler, who was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Butler was a passenger in a 1995 Honda Civic driven by Brandon Liggett, 23, also of Boise.

According to ISP, Liggett was westbound on Redfish Road at about 8:45 a.m. when he “failed to negotiate a curve and overcorrected. The vehicle slid off the road and struck a tree before overturning on its top.”

ISP reported that Liggett was not injured, but another passenger, Charles Cook, 37, of Stanley, sustained minor injuries. ISP reported that Cook was wearing a seatbelt, but that Liggett and Butler were not.

The accident remained under investigation Tuesday. ISP reported that “alcohol is a factor in the crash.”
