Men’s Pro-Am staged at Valley Club

Club pros play 18 holes in wet weather


The Rocky Mountain Section of the PGA of America held its annual Valley Club Men's Pro-Am Friday, Oct. 7. On a wet day club professionals from eastern Idaho, the Magic Valley and Treasure Valley descended on The Valley Club for its annual Pro-Am.

Professionals and amateurs had their own individual stroke play divisions and each team, comprised of one professional and three amateurs also played a team event with a format of One Gross Ball and One Net Ball.

Low professional in the regular professional division with a score of 71 was Adam Martens from the Spurwing Country Club in Meridian. In second place with 76 was the Valley Club's assistant professional, Eric Huus.

Winning the senior professional division was The Valley Club's director of instruction, Tommy Sanderson, at 74.

Regular Pro Division: 1—Adam Martens 71. 2—Eric Huus 76. 3—Gabrial Dorosh 77.

Senior Pro Division: 1—Tommy Sanderson 74.

Amateur Sweeps, Division One, gross: 1—Darren Kuhn 75. 2—Travis Anschutz 78. 3—Barry Bevers 79. Net: 1—Rob North 68. 2—Chris Gouley 73. 3—Brian Elcox 74.

Amateur Sweeps, Division Two, gross: 1—Wally Hicks 85. 2—Kurtis Holt 92. 3—Jay Cassell 93. Net: 1—Joe Cooper 69. 2 (tie)—Jerry Mells and Dan Staples 76.

Team results: 1—Juniper Hills CC (Dallen Atkins, Darren Kuhn, Kurtis Holt, Wally Hicks) with 131.

2—Juniper Hills CC (John Wilson, Dan Staples, Rob North, Mark Villano) with 132. 3—Crane Creek CC (Gabrial Dorosh, Chris Goulet, Ike Tanabe, Austin Warner) with 134.
