Get to know valley candidates

Pizza and Politics forums scheduled throughout valley

By EXPRESS STAFF

The public will have four opportunities to get to know mayoral and city council candidates in the valley later this month.

The Idaho Mountain Express will again host a series of Pizza and Politics forums, starting Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 6:30 p.m. in the nexStage Theatre on Main Street. All 12 candidates for Ketchum City Council have been invited to attend the event to present their ideas and answer questions.

The Express will buy the pizza, but the public needs to bring their questions. Press and public attending should take note that questions cannot specifically address one candidate but must be answerable by all candidates.

The Ketchum event is estimated to last two hours, while the three other forums to follow are estimated to last 60-90 minutes.

The other scheduled forums are:

( Bellevue Pizza and Politics (City Council)—Thursday, Oct. 20, at 6:30 p.m. in the Bellevue Elementary School Library.

( Hailey Pizza and Politics (City Council and mayor)—Wednesday, Oct. 26, at 6:30 p.m. in the Old County Courthouse in Hailey.

( Sun Valley Pizza and Politics (City Council and mayor)—Thursday, Oct. 27, at 6:30 p.m. in Carol's Dollar Mountain Lodge, in Sun Valley.

The non-partisan forums will begin with introductory speeches given by each candidate. Then reporters will be given a chance to ask questions, followed by questions from other audience members. Candidates will also be able to ask one question of their competitors. The events will end with 30-second closing statements from each political hopeful.
