The Community School has the top-seeded boys' team and No. 2-seeded girls' squad for the High Desert Soccer Conference tournaments debuting Saturday, Oct. 8 with three "knock-out" round games for both the boys and girls at Sunway Soccer Complex in Twin Falls.

Buhl's Tribe (11-1-3, 10-1-1 for 31 points) cemented its hold on the top spot in the seven-team girls' tournament with a 3-2 victory over Bliss (8-4-1, 8-3-1, 25 points) on Wednesday. In the second seed is defending HDSC champion Community School (10-4-1, 9-2-1 for 28 points).

The Community School girls open the tournament Saturday at 2 p.m. with an elimination game against No. 7 Gooding. In earlier games Saturday at Sunway, No. 4 Filer plays No. 5 Wendell, and No. 3 Bliss goes against No. 6 Declo.

If coach Kelly Feldman's Cutthroats beat Gooding Saturday, as they've done 14-0 and 8-1 in the season, the Sun Valley girls will host a semi-final game against the Bliss-Declo winner on Monday, Oct. 10 at 4:30 p.m. at Sagewillow Farms.

The Cutthroat girls closed out their regular season Tuesday with a 4-1 win at Filer. Ellie Swanson scored twice along with single goals by Maddie Caraluzzi and Gabi Perenchio. Hannah Dies and Hailey Rheinschild earned assists.

Coach Richard Whitelaw's Cutthroats (9-2-2, 9-1-1 league) posted their fourth shutout of the season Tuesday with a 1-0 victory at Filer. Leading scorer Will Brokaw (9 goals) tallied the winner, and Tim Kanellitsas was "Man of the Match." Goalkeeper Tom Crosby made four saves for the whitewash.

It was the fifth straight win by a 17-4 margin for the streaking Cutthroat boys, who begin their HDSC tournament quest Monday, Oct. 10 with a 4:30 p.m. semi-final game at Browning Field in Elkhorn. The final boys' tournament seedings will be determined after Thursday night's Filer-Gooding clash.
