Cyclists should shout out

I live near the bike path and am out walking at different times almost daily. I usually walk facing the oncoming traffic.

Recently, I turned to check on my dog's progress and one of you whizzed by me at quite a clip and with my back turned, I did not hear or see you coming. If I had stepped to the side even a little it might have been really terrible for both of us. This happens to me often. Because I am pretty old and don't hear well even with a hearing aid, I become a hazard. It would really help if you all would say, "On you left" or "On your right" or just anything happy like one of those little bike bells, and I would hear you.

Those bike tires are so very silent to me. Anyway, it would be nice to hear a friendly voice on my walks. Thank you and we will both be safe.
