Smith on podium at Canyon Ridge footrace

Wood River High School senior Corrine Smith enjoyed one of her best cross country races with a third-place finish, just nine seconds off the lead, in Wednesday's Canyon Ridge 3.1-mile footrace at Twin Falls.

In ideal, warm running conditions Smith (21:55) trailed only Twin Falls runners Alyssa Brann (21:46) and Hailey Gomez (21:52) in the 31-runner field. Top Wolverine boy was junior Chase England (18:10), fourth of 49 boys just 41 seconds behind the top time.

There were 24 Wolverine runners in Wednesday's race.
