Running 29 Hours At Red Rocks

The scenery was beautiful but it was a long day for the local Wicked Spuds team participating Sept. 9-10 in the fourth annual 185-mile Red Rocks Relay in Utah. The team consisted of, from left, Sonya Wilander, James Gillespie, Mike Wolter, Nancy Mann Blair, Liz Clark and Darla Phillips. Their six-person “Ultra Team” ran all day and all night, 29 hours and 41 minutes in all, over the course that started last Friday at daybreak atop Brian Head Ski Resort (about 11,000 feet) and finished in Zion National Park. They placed 81st overall out of 202 teams and more than 2,000 runners. They stayed awake for about 40 hours straight. Courtesy photo
