Three-time defending champion Idaho Falls Tigers lead the field for the two-day, 31st annual Wood River Invitational prep volleyball tournament starting today, Friday, Sept. 16 with seven hours of exciting pool play starting at 3:30 p.m. on the Hailey courts.
Host Wood River High School plays pool matches against Mountain Home at 3:30 p.m., Payette at 5:50 p.m. and Kimberly at 9 p.m. Other pools contain Idaho Falls-Borah-Canyon Ridge-Kuna and Boise-Bishop Kelly-Filer-Burley.
Depending on results of pool play, the top eight teams will enter the double elimination tournament starting Saturday at 9 a.m., and the lowest four seeds enter the consolation tournament Saturday at 9 a.m. The final championship tourney match is set for 5 p.m.
Wood River (4-8, 1-2 league) starts the tournament after its 25-6, 25-13, 25-10 Great Basin Conference loss at Twin Falls Wednesday night. The Wolverines entertain the Jerome Tigers Tuesday, Sept. 20 in another league encounter.
