Trustees to consider auditorium remodel

Tuesday’s school board meeting to start half an hour early

The Blaine County School District board of trustees will be asked to give final approval Tuesday night to a plan to remodel the auditorium at the district-owned Community Campus in Hailey.

The proposed cost of the auditorium facelift was not available by press deadline Thursday, as an auditorium advisory committee was meeting that afternoon to consider a final plan and price to recommend to the board.

Earlier this year, the board approved a preliminary budget, so that design could proceed, of $1.27 million. That amount is already greater than the $880,000 earmarked for the auditorium renovation in a 10-year $59.8 million plant facilities levy approved by Blaine County voters in 2009.

Tuesday's school board meeting is scheduled to start half an hour earlier than usual for its regular monthly meetings. Instead of starting at 6:30 p.m., the meeting is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.

It will be held, as usual, at the district office at 118 W. Bullion St. in Hailey.

Other agenda items include proposed new district policies, school board and administration goals, a proposal for restructuring school board meetings and a report on summer school.

A complete agenda is available at the district website, www.blaineschools.org.
