Bay Area indie rock comes to valley

Tartufi plans musical ‘cuddlefest’ with Idaho’s Finn Riggins

Tartufi, above, returns to the valley for a family-friendly good time and a reunion with Finn Riggins, below, at the Sun Valley Brewery.

The two musicians called Tartufi, once voted the Best Indie Rock Band in the Bay Area, are swinging through with their distinct take on sound and all its machinations.

Reviewers of the band have had trouble finding the right words to sum up their style, calling it "an imposing tangle of beauty and ambition" or concluding that "you're left in awe at how versatile yet distinct their music is ... you're left more or less with your jaw hanging open."

Whatever box their music falls in or outside of, the duo's booking agent, Eric Gilbert, shared this statement from the band about the upcoming play date in Hailey:

"Tartufi love to play because the drive makes our minds gooey with beauty overload, people like to slow dance to our music there and last time we played Hailey, I smashed the side mirror on the van by driving into the side of the Brewery and I am looking forward to doing that again. We also love playing shows with our favorite band from Idaho, Finn Riggins, our brother from another mother land, so essentially, we will be in band heaven for at least one night on this tour—but more likely we will be in band heaven for the three nights we get to cuddle with Finn Riggins after the shows we play with them. Band heaven. Cuddlefest."

Unlike Tartufi, who's been touring internationally lately, Finn Riggins has been playing close to home, working on new music to be released early next year, so they're happy about hitting the road for a bit.

"Very excited to be kicking it off with three dates next week with our good friends and heroes Tartufi," the band members say on their website.

Come in blind, or because you know them and Finn Riggins. Do a little research on Tartufi at www.tartufirock.net or on Boise's Finn Riggins at www.finnriggins.com.
