Horsing Around

The 53rd running of the Big Hitch Wagon Days Parade in Ketchum on Saturday went off, well, without a hitch. Of course, the city of Ketchum’s Big Hitch ore wagons were a highlight, even though it took a little extra effort to maneuver the turn from Sun Valley Road onto Main Street due to an inexperienced team of mules and cautious driving. Bluebird weather, whiffs of pancakes and hot dogs cooking along the route, parade noises of marching bands and color commentators, busy hockey players on wheels and, of course, Ralphie the camel all describe a great edition of the pageant. Ralphie, a two-humped Bactrian camel indigenous to the Gobi Desert in Mongolia, is owned by Jeral Williams of Idaho Falls. The camel was ridden by his son Justin.
