Let’s establish a valley airline

OK, thanks FAA or whoever put the brakes on the runaway efforts to replace a perfectly adequate community regional airport. I think this all started by a lawsuit from someone who was denied permission to land their large personal aircraft because of its size. That alone does not make sense to me. Go land somewhere else. And, yes, I know the airport would be better and safer somewhere else but it's not and we don't have the money to move it.

Now, with a price tag well over $300 million, where do we go? We surely will not approve a bond issue for construction of a new airport anywhere. We have been told that the commercial airlines will abandon us because their future is in jets too large to land here. Again, so what? Someone else with a business brain will see an opportunity to provide a service that is needed by a reasonably affluent population.

Now, lets think about that. If Delta and Horizon are selling their existing prop fleet, someone is going to buy them. Why not us? Why not Sun Valley Airlines? Buying five or eight or whatever aircraft with shuttle flights to SLC or Boise six, 10 or more times a day would provide better service than is currently provided. How about a community non-profit corporation owning this new airline to satisfy our needs and supply tourist and business transportation to our valley? How about Earl Holding/Sun Valley Co. owning and operating this new venture? They have the most to gain.

the possibilities are endless. how about new, good, real jobs with a complete aircraft maintenance and repair service center here. service our own aircraft and others can fly here for annual servicing and vacation at the same time. how about a locals (registered voters?) discount to offset the lower priced flights offered from boise.

This would be better for locals, tourists and business and great for new permenent jobs and services. Let's control this current situation. Let's get into the driver's seat and not be the tail of the dog. We have smart people here who can make this happen. The citizens of Green Bay proudly own the Packers and seem to be very happy. I would buy stock in this community project. How bout you?
