Sasha Cohen brings ‘Fire on Ice’

Olympic silver medalist to perform at final Sun Valley Ice Show

Olympic silver medal winner Sasha Cohen will perform Saturday, Sept. 3, during the final night of the 2011 Sun Valley Ice Show season.

Cohen tours with the Stars on Ice skating and acting troupe and co-wrote "Fire on Ice," her autobiography. According to her fan page, Cohen has many interests, including acting and fashion design. She appeared in the independent film "Moondance Alexander" and also appeared in "Blades of Glory."

In addition to ice skating, she says she enjoys yoga and pilates.

The final show of the Sun Valley Ice Show will take place at 8:30 p.m. at the Sun Valley Lodge.

Cohen captured the world's attention with her exquisite spiral and layback spin at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City. Four years later in Torino, Italy, she won a silver medal at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games. She last competed at the 2010 U.S. Championships in Spokane, Wash.

Cohen studied for a semester at the intensive New York Film Academy at Harvard University during a break from competitive skating. She has also taken speech classes and a variety of other acting classes, many from Hollywood's top coaches, according to her fan page website.

Cohen was born in Westwood, Calif., on Oct. 26, 1984. She lives in Newport Beach, Calif., and is a member of the Orange County Skating Club. Her coaches are John Nicks and Rafael Arutunian. Her performances are choreographed by Lori Nichol and Nikoli Morozov.

Sun Valley offers a full buffet dinner prior to the ice show, with seating on the Lodge terrace. Tickets for the buffet dinner on the terrace plus ice show are $102, while bleacher tickets range in price from $34 to $60.

All seating is reserved. Tickets may be purchased online at www.seats.sunvalley.com, the Sun Valley Recreation Office at 622-2135 or at the gate prior to the show.
