A 60-year-old Oregon man faces methamphetamine and marijuana charges following a traffic stop Friday night by the Bellevue Marshal's Office.

Harold S. Hornick was formally charged Monday in Blaine County Magistrate Court with the felony crime of possession of methamphetamine. He also was charged with misdemeanor crimes of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Court records state that Hornick lives in Hailey but had an Oregon driver's license and that his vehicle is registered in Oregon.

A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Aug. 23 before Magistrate Judge R. Ted Israel. Hornick was released from the Blaine County jail late Monday after posting $5,000 bond.

A probable cause affidavit filed by Bellevue Deputy Kristen Quinton states that Hornick was taken into custody after police found .6 grams of methamphetamine and 2.6 grams of marijuana in his vehicle shortly after 8 p.m. on Friday. Quinton wrote that police also found pipes and other items used for smoking or snorting drugs.

She wrote that Hornick was stopped by Bellevue police for allegedly speeding at 38 miles per hour through a 25 mile-per-hour zone in the city. Quinton wrote that Hornick agreed to a search of his vehicle after he was pulled over by police near the Splash and Dash convenience store.
