People and Places


Among the Virginia Tech students honored during the Blacksburg, Va., university's spring commencement ceremony May 13 was Adriana Maniere of Sun Valley. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree Cum Laude in Theatre Arts from the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences.

The University of Idaho welcomed the newest members of its alumni during the spring 2011 commencement ceremony. A total of 1,501 degrees were handed out, including 1,098 bachelor degrees, 21 specialty degrees, 83 law degrees, 273 master's degrees and 26 doctoral degrees. John Clayton, multiple Grammy Award-winning artist, arranger, bandleader and educator, spoke to graduates and an estimated 10,000 attendees at the Moscow commencement.

Graduates included:

From Bellevue: Robert Wiesen, bachelor's degree in landscape architecture.

From Hailey: Cory Goicoechea, bachelor's of science degree in biology; Ryan McDonald, bachelor's of science degree in special education; and Matthew VanZeipel, juris degree.

From Ketchum: Corey Bellinger, bachelor's of science degree in mechanical engineering; Mark Hansen, juris degree; and Nicholas Purdy, bachelor's degree in general studies.

From Sun Valley: Theodore James Fairchild, juris degree.

Yuk Ling Lui of Sun Valley has received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Western Governors University in Salt Lake City, Utah.
