The Sun Valley Summer Symphony at the Sun Valley Pavilion lineup for the week has something for everyone. Tonight, the symphony's music director, Alasdair Neale will conduct Rachmanioff's Symphony No. 2 in E Minor.

"It's one of my favorite pieces," Neale said. "I got to know it in my teens, and it's the perfect vehicle to express teen angst. It has stayed with me ever since."

Neale has programmed even more excitement for the week to come, including a performance on Thursday, Aug. 4, with Adams' "The Chairman Dances" and Brahms' "Concerto in A Minor for Violin and Cello," featuring Jeremy Constant on violin and Amos Yang on cello. A concert preview talk will take place at 4 p.m. with Peter Grunberg at the Sun Valley Opera House.

On Friday, Aug. 5, the Summer Music Workshops concerts, now in their 14th season, will take place at 3 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. The performances include students from the Wood River Valley and beyond.

Special guest conductor Michael Krajewski will be here Saturday, Aug. 6, for "Pops Night: American Jukebox," a program of clever and humorous music. He is the principal pops conductor of the Houston Symphony and the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, as well as the newly named principal pops conductor of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.

Another guest artist, pianist Yefim Bronfman, will grace the Sun Valley Pavilion stage on Sunday, Aug. 7. The program will consist of Muhly's "Wish You Were Here," part of the collaborative minimalist project with the Sun Valley Center for the Arts and The Community Library in Ketchum. In addition, the symphony and Bronfman will perform Prokofiev's "Concerto No. 2 in G Minor for Piano." A concert preview will take place at 4 p.m. at the Sun Valley Opera House with Peter Grunberg.

Bronfman is widely regarded as one of the most talented virtuoso pianists performing today. His commanding technique and exceptional lyrical gifts have won him consistent critical acclaim and enthusiastic audiences worldwide, whether for his solo recitals, his prestigious orchestral engagements or his rapidly growing catalog of recordings. Born in Tashkent in the former Soviet Union, Bronfman immigrated to Israel with his family in 1973 and became an American citizen in July 1989.

Neale will conduct Mozart's overture to "Don Giovanni" and Beethoven's "Symphony No. 6 in F Major" on Monday, Aug. 8. A concert preview will take place at 4 p.m. at the Sun Valley Opera House with Peter Grunberg.

The Sun Valley Summer Symphony is encouraging concert-goers to send in their photographs of their symphony experience for exhibition on the symphony's big screen. Email them to photos@svsummersymphony.org. In addition, symphony attendees are encouraged to post images and videos of the concert experiences on the Sun Valley Summer Symphony Facebook page. The symphony will post trivia questions on the big screen, and the first correct answers to be Tweeted or posted to the symphony Facebook page will be given prizes.
