Wood River Valley triathletes were in the big field of 1,623 finishers Saturday for the 25th annual Burley Lions Club Spudman Triathlon, a 32.7-mile endurance test at Burley.
Burley-area native B.J. Christenson, 33, of North Salt Lake City, Utah, won his third consecutive Burley Spudman title in 1.49:07 with splits of 12:38 for the one-mile swim, 58:44 for the 25.5-mile bike ride and 34:49 for the 6.2-mile run.
Former Ketchum-area triathlete Greg Taylor, 45, of Midway, Utah was third overall of 1,060 male finishers in 1.54:00. Hailey's Pedro Morales, 21, placed 69th and fifth in the Men's 19-24 age class at 2.10:27 with splits of 18:33/1.07:07/42:02.
Top class placing from local competitors came from Susan Gundy, 56, of Hailey, who was fourth in Women's 55-59 at 2.44:19 with splits of 19:33/1.20:45/1.10:26. She was the 223rd woman out of 563 finishers.
