RESULTS

Firefighters 13, Casino/Whiskey Jacques 12

Firefighters finished up their 22-run, 31-hit doubleheader sweep and handed The Casino its first loss of the season. Trailing 4-2 after three, Firefighters put together an 8-run, 7-hit fourth sparked by a one-out RBI triple by Melinda Milner. Their lead trimmed from 10-4 to 10-8, Firefighters added 3 important runs in the sixth on a two-out double by Keith Potter (2 hits, 2 runs) followed by an RBI single by Steph Rowley. The Casino rallied for 4 runs on 5 hits in the seventh with Lisa Vadalma (2 hits, 2 runs) drilling an RBI double, but the league leaders left the potential tying run on second and the potential winning run at first base. Firefighters (14 hits): Matt Christian 3 hits (double) and 2 runs, Becky Simpson 3 hits (2 doubles). Casino (21 hits): Tom Moreland 2 hits (double) and 3 runs, Matt Zontag 3 hits (double), Josh Jacobson 3 hits (double) and 2 runs, Bryan O'Connell 2 hits (HR).

Firefighters 9, KECH 1

Firefighters, needing a win over KECH to clinch third place in the regular season, built a 7-1 lead with a 5-run, 6-hit third. The winners got 5 straight two-out hits capped by an RBI triple off the bat of Steve McCoy. KECH was limited to 7 hits, 2 apiece by Scotty Carlson and Trey Knox. Firefighters: Leadoff hitter Matt Christian 4 hits (3 doubles, triple) and 2 runs, Justin Herald triple, double and 2 runs, Steph Rowley 2 hits, Keith Potter 3 doubles and 2 runs.
