WRHS, Cutthroats to resume girls’ soccer series

Player, parent meetings are coming up

Wood River High School Athletic and Activities Director John Rade announced Tuesday that the Wolverine girls' varsity soccer team will resume its long rivalry on Saturday, Aug. 20 with the Community School girls' varsity soccer team.

That game, scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 20 at 11 a.m. on the high school soccer field in Hailey, will be the first of the season for both of the perennial state tournament teams, and the first time the two schools have played in soccer since 2008. They are in different divisions, Wood River in 4A and the Community School in 3A.

Prior to the interruption in the series, the teams had played 23 games from 1993 to 2008.

Rade also announced there will be a four-game WRHS junior varsity football schedule against nonconference teams ending Sept. 15, followed by a five-game freshman football slate against the five other Great Basin Conference schools, starting Sept. 22 through Oct. 20.

Here's an update on WRHS pre-season meetings/practices:

Starting things off are parent and player meetings coming up in the next two weeks, according to Rade.

Rade said all student athletes before practicing must have on file at the high school the necessary paperwork, including current sports physical, health insurance and the Impact Concussion Base Line Test (all fall sports except cross country).
