Young talents are the special treat for this summer's Sun Valley Summer Symphony Benefit Concert. Discovered on the television show "America's Got Talent," 11-year-old singing sensation Jackie Evancho shared a few thoughts about her life with the Idaho Mountain Express.

Her performance will take place on Sunday, July 31, at 6:30 p.m. at the Sun Valley Pavilion. It will feature Evancho along with violinist Ryu Goto and pianist Alfredo Rodríguez. Tickets are $50-$500. For details, call 622-5607.

Who is your biggest inspiration?

I have many inspirations. It's not easy to single one out. Of course, my family is my biggest inspiration—to do good and be kind to many people is another one. I love lots of different types of music so I am inspired by it all.

What is your biggest dream now?

To continue singing and enjoying performing. I just love it.

To what or whom do you attribute your success?

I guess it's a talent that was given to me by God. Of course, my mom and dad have been very supportive and allowed me to follow my dream and be a singer.

How did you develop your singing ability? Do you take classes?

I went to see "Phantom of the Opera" and came home and started singing—it just came out that way. Since then, my mom has helped develop my voice.

Is anyone else in your family musically inclined?

Yes, my entire family loves music and perform around the house either singing or playing an instrument.

What genre do you want to sing in?

Classical crossover is what I do best.

Had you been in many other talent competitions before "America's Got Talent?"

I was in a few talent competitions but not too many.

What keeps you going?

Being with my family, friends and pets. I love going to school to see my friends. I'm home a lot, which is great.

What has been your most challenging moment as a singer?

I wouldn't call it challenges. I had to learn to sing in Italian and French, but I actually loved learning it. I do get a bit nervous sometimes but that's OK as it can help the performance.

You're a big fan of Lady Gaga. What songs of hers do you like?

I really like "Paparrazi," "Bad Romance" and "Poker Face."  I think she's a great songwriter but she's seems a little wild in her videos.  It's not a style I think I'd like to do personally.

Are you set on a career as a professional musician?

I always want to be a musician, but I'd like to be a writer, veterinarian and fashionista too.

What's the best part about being a singer?

The best part about being a singer is when people clap for me after I sing a song and I know that I did a good job.
