It was disturbing indeed to read the Miscellany II in the July 20 Express and see so many negative reports mixed in with the good and funny ones. This valley is known for its friendly people, care and consideration. I have news for adults who think bad behavior is OK here: It is not! If you can't conduct yourself with decency and consideration for all humankind, please don't come, or move if you already live here.
Some examples for all of us:
- Bicyclists, walkers, runners, etc.: The bike path is for everyone in this valley, whether we ride our bikes, walk with our dogs and children, or run by ourselves. If you are incapable of sharing this beautiful path, and being considerate to all its users, don't use it, and if you think that shouting and swearing are acceptable forms of public behavior, go to another city, don't come here!
- Stop signs are to be observed by everyone—cars, bikes, pedestrians. Flipping other people off is not an acceptable form of public behavior to fellow human beings. Lack of respect to others reflects poorly on you and this valley in general.
- Dogs peeing on someone's art table is the most disrespectful thing I think I saw in that day's paper. Perhaps the artist who that happened to could come to your house and pee on your dining room table, if that is how you need to learn to be respectful of other human beings?
For the most part, most valley locals and visitors are what we have always been—fun, friendly, courteous, helpful, not sexist, and respectful! Let us employ a zero-tolerance policy regarding bad behavior by people to other people at the boundary lines of Blaine County—you shall not pass!
