Elkhorn women play 36 holes to celebrate summer

Bringing back the tradition of the mid-July Sun Valley Women's Invitational golf tournament, the Elkhorn Golf Club staged its Ladies Member-Guest tournament July 20-21 for 40 golfers on a total of 20 twosomes.

Low-gross winners were Arlene Herich and Marilyn Celano in the "Flirty Flappers" flight and Joy Ann McGuinness and Pam Somers in the "Charleston Cuties." The formats were Shamble in Wednesday's first round and Better Ball in Thursday's final round of the 36-hole tourney.

Pat Meadowcroft chaired this year's tournament committee.

Closest-to-the-pin winners were Kingsley Croul and Arlene Herich. Winning longest drive were Arlene Herich and Marilyn Celano. Here are results by flight:
