Player, parent meetings set for WRHS sports

In early August


Blaine County School District students don't begin classes for the 2011-12 school year until Sept. 6-7, but Wood River High School fall sports athletes will be hard at work with practices and games way before the first day of school.

Two football games, four soccer games for boys and girls, a cross country meet, and a volleyball match and tournament are set for Wood River athletes before school starts.

Starting things off are parent and player meetings coming up in the next two weeks, according to Wood River High School athletic and activities director John Rade. The first football and soccer practices are Monday, Aug. 8. Cross country practices begin Friday, Aug. 12 and the first volleyball practice is Monday, Aug. 15.

Here are the meetings:

Football: For varsity and freshman football players are Wednesday, Aug. 3 at 7 p.m. in The Community Campus auditorium, Hailey.

Boys' soccer: Thursday, Aug. 4 at 6:30 p.m. in the high school commons area.

Girls' soccer: Thursday, Aug. 4 at 6:30 p.m. in the WRHS Distance Learning Center.

Volleyball: Monday, Aug. 8 at 6:30 p.m. in the Distance Learning Center.

Cross country: Tuesday, Aug. 9 at 6:30 p.m. in the Distance Learning Center.
