Carey resident Ronald T. Hill, 68, was found dead last Thursday morning after apparently crashing an all-terrain vehicle into a hole on his property near the Little Wood Reservoir.

The property is 3.7 miles north of Carey on the Little Wood Reservoir Road. Blaine County Sheriff's Capt. Curtis Miller said Hill had been missing since Wednesday evening when he left his home.

Miller said friends at Castle's Corner formed a search party to look for Hill on Thursday morning and found his body near a 5-foot-wide, 2.5-foot-deep hole that had been dug in the ground.

"We don't know if he knew the holes were there," Miller said. "Mr. Hill was tossed over the handlebars and apparently died on impact."

Miller said grass had grown up around the hole, concealing it from view.

A service for Hill was held Tuesday at Wood River Chapel in Hailey.
