New airport not needed

There is absolutely no need for another airport unless one wants to pay for the ruination of the Sun Valley area. And pay you will. Can you believe it—more than $300 million? There are those who are using this economic downturn nationwide to attempt to lure the unsuspecting to believe a new airport is the solution to their perceived problem.

Of course, the advocates tout the possibility that the federal government will pay for a good share of the cost. They forget to mention that the federal government gets its money from (guess who) us! Yes, we are going to pay for the whole blasted thing! In an effort to justify the fiasco, they state that "the typical share that local communities have shouldered for other replacement airports around the country has been half of the total project costs," as if our share will be much less than that!

The first step of the advocates to squeeze money from us for this unneeded airport is to have us cough up $35.5 million in additional property taxes. Don't fall for it!

Don't airporticate the Sun Valley area!
