Gundy wins class at Spudman Triathlon

The 2011 Boise Spudman Triathlon sponsored by the Treasure Valley YMCA Saturday, July 9 had its 1500m swim canceled due to high winds and white-capped water in BarclayBay. Wind was the order of the day, but it made for fast times on the bike down the canyon.

Events were the 20-mile bike ride and 5-mile run.

Hailey’s Susan Gundy won the Women’s 55-59 age class and placed 144th overall of 172 individual finishers in 1.49:32 (56:58 bike, 48:44 run). Boise’s David Gundy was 62nd overall and 13th in the Men’s 30-34 age class in 1.31:43 (48:58 bike, 40:48 run).

Spudman winners were Kenny McDaniel of Boise 1.12:31 (41:05 bike, 29:47 run) and Annemarie Hofstetter of Boise 1.23:09 for 24th overall (45:55, 35:34). There were 129 men and 43 women finishing.
