RECENT RESULTS

7 Dog Ranch/ESS 14, Peterson Bros./B&T Const. 13

Peterson Farms enhanced its reputation as the team you most don’t want to face in the first round of the city tournament with a hard-fought effort in a narrow loss to once-beaten 7 Dog Ranch. The winners, trailing 11-4 in the home second, got 3 runs back in the home half and added 3 more runs to trail only 11-10 in the third—Greg Edwards smacking a 2-run HR to spark the rally. Still down 12-10 in the home fifth, 7 Dog Ranch took the lead for the first time when T.J. Peterson (3 hits, 2 HR, 7 RBI) clouted his second 3-run HR of the game. 7 Dog Ranch added an insurance run in the home sixth for a 14-12 lead when Buddy Peterson (4 hits, 2 runs) led off with a double and scored on Greg Edwards’ RBI single. Peterson mounted one more comeback in the seventh as Brandon Beall (3 hits, 3 runs) opened with a single, but Peterson stranded the potential tying and go-ahead runners in scoring position and fell just short. 7 Dog Ranch: Morgan Uhrig 2 hits (double) and 3 runs, Wendy Hosman 4 hits and 2 runs. Peterson: Milton Brooks 3 hits and 2 runs, Mike Beall 3 hits (double) and 2 runs, Max Bailey 2 hits (double), Tracy Peterson 2 runs.

Sacred Bear/Power 20, Mahoney’s/Silver Dollar 5 (6 innings)

Power muscled out 5-run and 6-run innings for its first two at-bats, then closed out its sixth win of the season with a 4-run sixth. Leading the way was No. 3 hitter Jim Bradley 3 hits and 5 runs. Sacred Bear/Power: Jason Marenda 2 hits, 2 runs and 4 RBI, Josh Jacobson 2 hits (HR), Ben Bainbridge 3 hits, Richard Ulrich 3 hits (double), 2 runs and 6 RBI, Jamie Stone 2 runs. Mahoney’s: Jeff Martin 2 HR, 2 runs and 4 RBI.

Sawt. Paint/5/McClain’s 18, Mahoney’s/Dollar 7

Much closer than the final score indicated, the game was tied 4-4 after one inning. Mahoney’s crept ahead 6-5 with a 2-run third as Jeff Martin (2 hits, 2 runs) ripped a one-out double and Sue Weller and Kim Meyers (2 hits) followed with singles. Sawtooth made its move with a 7-hit, 4-run fourth—all singles—then added 3 runs in the fifth and 6 runs in the sixth capped by a 3-run HR off the bat of Jeff Burrell (3 hits, 3 runs). Sawtooth Paint (28 hits): Bryan Burrell 3 hits (double) and 2 runs, Sarah Benson 3 hits and 2 runs, Jeff Schroeder 3 hits (2 doubles) and 3 runs, Kathy Seal 3 hits and 2 runs, John Rathfon 4 hits (2 doubles). Mahoney’s: Molly Floyd 2 runs.

Cups and Bras 7, Peterson Bros./B&T Const. 5

Leadoff hitter Ryan Stavros (4 hits, 3 runs) belted a one-out solo homer breaking a 5-5 tie in the visitor seventh, and Matt Nelson (4 hits) added a two-out solo shot in the same frame leading Cups and Bras to its eighth victory in a very closely played game. Peterson Farms jumped ahead 3-1 in the first and 5-3 after five frames, but Cups and Bras stitched together 2 runs on 4 hits in the sixth for a 5-5 tie and added the decisive runs in the final stanza. Peterson Farms: Brandon Beall 2 hits (double), Tracy Peterson 2 hits (double), Anthony Rooney 2 hits (double).
