Team Idaho track kids out of starting blocks

First two meets


     The Team Idaho track club of the Wood River Community YMCA began its competitive season Thursday, June 30 with a meet at Chuck Turner Field on the grounds of WoodRiverMiddle School in Hailey.

     Another meet was scheduled for Thursday, July 14, also at the middle school track. The club began in the WoodRiverValley this spring to provide a grass-roots opportunity for youth to participate in track and field.

     All kids are welcome to participate in meets. For more details contact Laurie Fitzpatrick 208-861-4881.

     Training sessions for local kids in both Hailey and Ketchum since the club began helped produce some of these fine results at the June 30 meet:

     Boys’ ages 13-14: Ben Brunelle 1st places 100-meter dash and long jump, 2nd places shotput and discus.

     Boys’ 11-12: Alex LaFleur 1st place 50m dash, 2nd places 100m dash and long jump; and Cooper Dart 1st places long jump, 100m dash and 200m dash.

     Girls’ 9-10: Jessica Mandeville 1st places 50m dash, long jump and 800m run.

     Boys’ 9-10: Davey Schrader 1st places discus and shotput.

     Girls’ 7-8: Noelle LaFleur 2nd places 100m dash, long jump and 50m dash; and Alexis Byington 1st places 50m dash, long jump and 100m dash.

     Boys 6-and-under: David Mandeville 1st places 50m dash, 100m dash and 200m dash.

     Girls’ 6-and-under: Alex Schrader 1st places 50m dash, long jump and 200m dash.
