Headed for college studies at BoiseStateUniversity in just over a month, CareyHigh School graduating senior Caleb Cenarrusa took some time out to play some football July 9 at Caldwell’s Simplot Stadium.

Cenarrusa, who quarterbacked Carey to the State 1A Division 2 eight-man football championship last November just down the road in Eagle, was the signal caller for the East All-Stars in the ICON Credit Union All-State eight-man football game.

He rushed for 61 yards including a 55-yard touchdown scamper and passed for another 78 yards to earn the ICON All-State Game trophy for being the Most Valuable Offensive Player. The West squad nipped Cenarrusa’s East 20-16.

Also playing for the East was Cenarrusa’s Carey teammate Blair Peck. Both Peck and Cenarrusa made the 2010 Idaho Statesman 1A All-Idaho first team, Peck as an offensive and defensive lineman and Cenarrusa as quarterback along with second team as defensive back.

In another game that day at Simplot Stadium, the ICON 11-man All-State contest, TeamTreasureValley outscored Team Idaho 22-7.
